We have not been very interesting this week. We are still working on getting the rest of the before and after pictures ready of the house! I guess it is Monday now so I am speaking of this past week. I started my new job. My second nanny job. It is two little girls who are 2 1/2 and 6 months. I start full time next week. The new car has been great. I have not even had to fill it up yet which is amazing!
We did a little shopping this week, had a date night, and had dinner out with Matt and Katie. Matt was one of Tyler’s groomsmen and they live near us so we were excited to finally get to hang out with them!
My big accomplishment for the week was my next craft project! I am making a house divided wreath, Alabama and Tennessee, in case you don’t know our teams. I am the Alabama fan and Tyler is the Tennessee fan. I started this craft by buying a white foam wreath, pieces of felt in the colors of my choice and straight pins. I cut the pieces of felt into little squares (approx. 2.5 by 2.5inches) and then folded them diagonally corner to corner and then again. Then put a straight pin through it leaving one little flap not pinned so it left it looking fluffy and somewhat covered the pin. I proceeded to continue putting these pinned felt squares all over the wreath. I only covered the front not the back because the back won’t really show. So this is my wreath. I have a wooden A and a T which I still need to paint and add on to it. I am pretty pleased by how it turned out!
We have a shorter week this week then it’s off to visit the in-laws and then a few days of lake fun with my family 🙂
And sadly for Tyler it’s not a puppy, yet. And to the Grandparents no it’s not a baby. It’s a car! We started car shopping yesterday and spent the sunny day looking at different cars without much success, but really we were only browsing. So today we took off in Little Blue, Tyler’s truck, went to church then came out and it was beginning to rain but we persevered. We got the car washed, cleaned out the inside and headed to a dealership with a car we liked. It was a cloudy slightly rainy day but that gets you fast service at a dealership because who wants to look at cars in the rain right? The Glovers do. I don’t think we would have remembered to check the windshield wipers otherwise. So after 4 lovely hours at the dealership we emerged with “Black Betty” a black, 2005, Toyota Camry. As Dad says, “You can’t go wrong with a Toyota”
So the reasoning behind this purchase is that tomorrow I will be starting my new job as a nanny. Thank you to my Uncle Brian I have found my second nanny job. It’s a bit of a commute so we decided a fuel efficient car that can fit car seats (for the children I nanny) would be a good idea.
The rest of this week was some birthday celebrating for myself, another year older. I got a pedicure, we had a delicious dinner at Olive Garden and I got a massage thanks to my wonderful in-laws.
Not much else exciting in the Glover household. Hope you are all doing well!
For our wedding/my birthday present Mom, Dad, Miles and Meg came to visit us for a few days last week. The plan was a total redo of the inside of our house and the Ballard’s did not fail. Dad single handedly painted four rooms and one hallway on his own in 3 1/2 days. Mom got measurements ahead of time and made curtains for four rooms in one week. Tyler, Dad and Miles installed a new chandelier in the kitchen, a recessed light above the sink and Miles and I installed a dimmer switch for the dining room chandelier. We got new switch plate covers as well.
The room I am sharing today is the living room. The only thing we still need in this room is a lamp or two. The lighting we have is way to harsh and we need softer light. so we don’t have to sit in the dark watching tv like we are now. We painted the walls a beautiful green color, added curtains made by Mom with fabric from Joann’s. We finally hung our pictures. I love our Family Tree wall art from Bed Bath and Beyond. It was a great wedding gift! The switch plate covers are such a small addition but do so much for the room! We also didn’t bring the rug back in and that really helped open up a small room and the hardwood floors look pretty! So here are the before and after pictures, forgive the mess in the before picture but I guess that makes the after picture that much better!
So apparently we aren’t really all that interesting since it’s been a week since I blogged. But we’ve done a few semi-interesting things. We have enjoyed watching more Olympics, especially Gymnastics and Swimming. On Wednesday we went to Chick-Fil-A for dinner with Aunt Kay, Uncle Brian and Jacob and then went to see Jacob play his basketball game. He was quite the star. We had front row, floor seats and his team won! I was lucky enough to get my photo with the star which Aunt Kay was excited about because it shows the oldest and the youngest cousins.
This weekend we had our first yard sale. And we were quite successful. We got up at 7 am on Saturday morning, ate a quick breakfast and then began setting up all of our stuff that had been piled in our kitchen and guest room for weeks. This was the weekend to get rid of it because our first guests arrive on Wednesday! Our yard sale started at 8 am and the yard salers seem to travel in packs because they came in waves. But we sold a lot and made some money which we were excited about! We then took everything else to the goodwill and have so much space in our kitchen now! After our yard sale we slept for 3 hours then went out to dinner and shopping with our hard earned money! We then went to check out a historic bridge at the Manassas Battlefield so Tyler could shoot some pictures.
Today we are back to boring just spending the day on the couch watching TV and Face timing with Mom on her new iPhone. The family is getting so tech savvy. We are looking forward to their visit this week!! Lots of painting and decorating will be happening so pictures will come next weekend of our newly redecorated house 🙂
