Weekend Wrap-Up

We had a really fun weekend with really nice weather that then turned to snow this morning? So strange.

Friday was so nice and warm so we ate leftovers for dinner then went shopping! I hadn’t been on a good shopping spree in awhile so it was a lot of fun! I got some for my easter/spring centerpiece which I will post about later this week so stay tuned!

Saturday morning we tried out breakfast at a local restaurant close to our house! We had a delicious breakfast then drove around looking at local sites. I then went to get a pedicure to prepare for my trip next week to the beach!! I can’t wait. Hopefully it will be sunny and in the 70’s and I will be happy!

We found a new favorite show on Saturday, Property Wars on the Discovery Channel. If you have not watched it before then you should because it is such a fun show! Saturday night we had date night and went to The Cheesecake Factory for dinner to celebrate 9 months of marriage! We then went to see Safe Haven which was really good!

Sunday we went to community group, church then had brunch with our friends Matt and Katie at Cracker Barrel. Does it get much better than Cracker Barrel for home cooking not at home? I don’t think so. Grocery shopping then a lazy day around the house. We discovered another new show. Downton Abbey. We watched the pilot and now I can’t wait to get home tonight and watch another episode!

So that was our weekend in all it’s glory! We had a fun time and enjoyed it. Next weekend I will be out of town and it will be the first time we’ve been apart over night since we got married 😦 I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Family Road Trip!

This weekend we took a quick road trip to Ohio for my mom’s birthday. And by quick I mean we were there only about 40 hours and we drove a total of 16 hours. But it was well worth it to see all the family and get to meet my new niece dog Rubi!

We left bright and early Friday morning and took Dolly for her first big road trip! She was very excited and kept putting her feet on the middle console and trying to get up front with us. But eventually she calmed down. We got to Ohio in time for dinner with my family.

On Saturday we had a delicious breakfast, went shopping and then had a scrumptious dinner at Bucca di Beppo’s. If you have not ever been there then you should go! It is a delicious family style Italian restaurant.

On Sunday we had some delicious pancakes and then hit the road to return back to Virginia. Dolly was excited to head back home as she was a bit nervous with all of the new faces and places. Next thing for us and Dolly will be some dog training so we all know how to better help her in new situations. She got to meet her cousin Rubi and they had a good, short first meeting.

We had a great road trip! We drove for 16 hours and didn’t turn on the radio once so we had some quality time together. It was a quick trip but a lot of fun and worth the time spent in the car! With our previous flying history of super delayed flights we decided driving is our best option unless we just can’t take the day off for the drive. Fortunately this time it worked out and we had a great time with family!

Spring… Are you coming?

We had a few warm days here and there and I had hope that maybe Spring was coming. Well now it looks like a giant snowstorm is heading our way. We may end up with rain or tons of wet, heavy snow. So it looks like winter has decided to come very late. I just keep thinking beach, beach, beach because I get to spend 4 days at the beach with my family in just a few weeks!

Due to the cold weather we did not do anything very exciting this weekend. Friday night we just relaxed and I was asleep by 9:30. Last week was a long week in nanny-land. Hopefully this week will be better. Saturday we got up and headed to Chick-fil-a for breakfast (Yum!) and then did some shopping. My current organizing obsession is those lovely wicker baskets with the fabric lining. I got the cutest one the other weekend for Dolly that says “My Stuff” and has paw prints on it. I got one to organize the bench at our entry way for gloves and hats and such. This weekend I got one to put on the back of our toilet because we have zero counter space. So it was so nice to put everything in the basket and have our small bathroom counter free of clutter!

On Sunday we went to church, grocery shopping and worked out. We are not very exciting in the winter weather. This coming weekend we are going to Ohio to visit my family and taking Dolly with us. Hopefully she will be a good car traveler and hopefully the winter storm won’t interfere with our travel plans!

The Holidays are coming!

Ok so obviously I am the worst blogger ever. I apologize. I am always thinking oh I can’t blog because I need pictures and they are on my iPhone not my computer and I never have my cord with me. So now I will start this post and it may take me a few days to actually publish it. So since I last blogged a lot has happened in the world and in our life. First thing was Halloween. We got some awesome wigs and handed out candy to the children of the neighborhood. We had fun dressing up but next year we might need a costume party to go to so we can truly show off our amazing costumes.

Right before Halloween, Sandy hit. We were very fortunate to say that the worst thing we had to deal with was a leaky front door. We did not lose power or have any damage so we were very fortunate!

The weekend after Halloween we had a nice weekend. We got shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child and bought all kinds of fun goodies from the dollar store to send to the kids who are helped by this wonderful organization. We did this when I was a child and I always loved it so Tyler and I decided to do it this year. If you have never heard of them then check out their website! It is a great thing to do around the holidays for kids who won’t get a Christmas like we are used to having.

That Saturday evening we had a retirement home night at the Twaddells. We had delicious bbq, played cards and enjoyed visiting with family. This past weekend we did a lot of Christmas shopping! We are trying to get done with our shopping before the madness that is December. Something about that month is just always incredibly busy and I don’t have to tell you how crazy the stores get. So if we aren’t done then the rest of our shopping will most likely be done online.

Next week we head to Ohio to spend Thanksgiving with my family! I am so excited to get to see them and spend a few days at home eating my moms cooking!
